ViewPoint Lodge sits on the edge of the canal leading to the magnificent Inle Lake in the colorful Southern Shan State village of Nyaung Shwe.
ViewPoint Lodge reflects the beauty of its name. The scenic surroundings include the canal leading to te lake on one side and rice paddies on the other, overlooking the highest mountains in the region. The Lodge is walking distance to the village of Nyaung Shwe and is a 10-minute boat ride from the Inle Lake.
24 rooms in two classes are built in the traditional Shan way. All are easily affordable without compromising, amenities or the unique atmosphere of the Lodge. All rooms are built on pilings on the ViewPoint lake using traditional Shan ecofriendly construction. The Lodge and Cottages are built wit local limestone, mud and rice straw, and reinforced with wooden beams. No concrete is used. Only paints made from laterite mud and natural wax decorate the Lodge. Using traditional materials does not mean compromising modern comforts.
All suite have modern bathrooms and are equipped with wireless internet, telephone, LCD TV, unlimited movies and music. Suites are both thermal and sound insulated, and windows are doubled insulated glass, all to ensure guests’s comfort. The Lodge blends the best Shan traditions and the needs of modern travellers.
ViewPoint is the only Lodge in the Shan region boasting a restaurant that blends excellent local cuisine and wines, a tapas and cocktail bar and room service, together with a Swiss management.
The Shan Restaurant is the best local restaurant in Myanmar according to the Routard Guide and Lonly Planet Travel Guide books. It is the place where you can dine while enjoying an amazing view of the canal, rice paddies and the highest mountains in Inle region. The food and service are equal to the beautiful and exotic surroundings.
The restaurant includes a full-service bar with a wide selection of the finest wines from France, Italy and of course Myanmar.

Exotic Lunch on the Lake: Exotic and memorable dining unlike any ever experienced before: lunch on floating restaurant on Inle Lake.
Shan picnic: Far off the beaten path, Shan picnics take place in a bamboo forest glade – Indein or Taung Toe – in the shadows of exquisite Belle Epoque hangings. These special “dejeuner sur l’herbe” take place near ancient pagodas and ruins. Guests sit on pillows around the natural woven palm mat while enjoying a luxurious picnic.
Shan Cooking Classes: Participant visit the local market with head chef to purchase the food prepared for a special gourmet lunch. The chef explains how to shop, traditional bargaining and the ingredients being purchased. The cooking class then returns to ViewPoint, where the chef begins the basic lessons and prepares the meal with the class. At the conclusion, everyone enjoys a special aperitif at the rooftop before being served the lunch they prepared.
